Seriously?

OK so it's time for another "Seriously" Post.

Josh and I have this inside joke about saying each other's names in this deep, raspy voice. It's from a movie called "House Bunny" where Anna Faris' character has a trick to remembering peoples names by saying it out loud in this deep, raspy voice; kind of like a monster stalking you. We usually only do it when calling each other.

Anyways, I was busy trying to install our DVD player today and Joey kept grabbing at everything so I was distracting him by using that creepy voice. I would say all of our names; Josh Callon, Keana Callon, Joey Callon. I was trying to get him to say it but he wouldn't.

Fast forward a couple of hours. After dinner we decided to go on a walk. While putting Joey's shoes on he pauses from what he is doing, looks at me and says, "Josh Callon" in the creepy voice. IT WAS HILARIOUS!

Josh and I were just busting up laughing. It was great. We both agree that we cannot think of anyone funnier then Joey. This is the same kid who says "Hocus Pickles" and "Poopy Pants" all the time. The same kid who starts crazily running around the downstairs with no destination in sight and the same one who likes to look outside his bedroom window and yell "JON" all the time (Our neighbors).
Everyday he makes us laugh and his personality is just so awesome!

Seriously?

I think my "seriously" post should be a weekly theme b/c I seem to have one of those "seriously moments" atleast once a day. Perhaps I could call it...Seriously Saturday, or something else completely dorky!

Anyways, yesterday I decided that the fingerprint smudges, the dried on yogurt and water marks should be cleaned from our fridge. So I grabbed the Stainless Steel Cleaner from underneath the sink and went to town. At first it seemed the fridge was getting clean and even the old sticky tape was coming off, but for the life of me couldn't get the water marks off. I scrubbed some more and noticed that the spray was very smelly. After a quick buffer I took a look at the fridge and it still looked crappy. I looked down at the can to check the directions and noticed that I was not using stainless steel cleaner, I had been using Grout Tile spray on sealer. Um no wonder it didn't clean it! I quickly wet down a cloth and started wiping off the fridge. I also looked at the sealer can and saw in big warnings to use in well ventilated area. Whoopps!
I grabbed Joey and went up stairs and opened several windows and turned on our whole house fan. We spent a couple of minutes upstairs to get the smell out and the fan did its job.

Boy did I feel like a dork. It's one of those stories that you aren't sure how to tell your husband what you did, or if you even should. The two cans were the same size and same nozzle so its easy to get them confused, but it also wasn't me who stores tile sealer in my cleaning cabinet.
Atleast Josh was nice about the whole story. He laughed at me. Actually come to think about it, I don't think he was one bit surprised it happened to me. Atleast there was no damage!

Silly Sunday

It seems like this is the first Sunday in a long time where we are actually having a normal Sunday. No plans, no real work needed done, no shopping, just staying at home as a family. I am really happy that Josh is getting a legitimate day off. He works over 60+ hours a week. Currently he is downstairs having a drink and watching the football game. Joey is napping and I am sitting her on the computer brainstorming ideas for my new blog project I hope to launch near the end of November.

I was going through my SD card and came across pictures I took yesterday that made me laugh so much.

First off, you know how much Josh and I love Harry Potter. Well I am proud to announce that I caught Joey yesterday thumbing through Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, even though Monster's Inc. was on.

While I was on the computer yesterday, after Joey finished with his Harry Potter, he decided that he would take out all the drawers I just emptied from some old dressers and brought each one into the office for me. Thanks Joey, but I didn't think an obstacle course was in our plans for the day.

Lastly, Joey and I decided to make Peanut Butter Chocolate bars. Well, he mainly stuck is finger in the dough and I made it. However he found it even better to taste test the peanut butter. The kid practically inhaled the peanut butter when I put it on a spoon for him. Atleast he is getting some protein...Right?

Showing off his treat.

I think the peanut butter stuck to his mouth.

Our finished dessert!

A testimony

Would you believe me if I told you I got all of this for $13.57, plus got an $8.50 coupon off of my next purchase?

If you can't see it, this is 2 boxes of cereal, 5 boxes of granola bars, 5 packages of yogurt, 2 cans of biscuits, 1 juice, 1 loaf of bread, 13 candles, 1 cake mix, and 2 packages of baby wipes.
My total savings was $85.24
This is $100 worth of product.
I used $59.87 in manufacturer coupons

I think I can speak for most people when I say that the past year has not been easy.

We have had to evaluate and reevaluate every aspect of our finances and investments.

This time last year we implemented a budget on household purchases including groceries, household items and clothes. Our food budget was set at a measly (at least that is what I thought) $60 per week. At first I was agasted that Josh would even dare to mention such a cut back. We were spending over $160 per week on food and groceries for a family of three. I did not see a problem with that number, but as times grew worse we knew a budget was absolutely necessary.

I begrudgingly went along with the budget and spent the first couple of months attempting to coupon and hit sales. I negotiated with Josh and adjusted the budget to $80 per week for groceries. SCORE!

It wasn't until March of this year that I discovered the vast array of coupon blogs found on the Internet. A couple of my mom friends and I were inspired to start couponing. These blogs pointed out the best sales at my local stores and told me where to use what coupon on what item, etc.

Fast forward to this year and our pantry, kitchen cabinets, linen closet, and laundry room are busting at the seams with all of my great finds and deals. With couponing (yes, its an art form) I have been able to save my family thousands of dollars and have spent way less then ever before. I am well stocked on many items. I have over a year supply of laundry detergent, razors, shampoo, deodorant, paper plates, etc. Any grocery item purchased in my house was bought at rock bottom rates. Most items were purchased nearly free or less then a dollar, hence how i was able to stock up. And all of the items I buy are name brand b/c I have learned to get them cheaper then store brands. In a short year I have gone from overspending and not having much to show for it to having so much that we have been able to donate food time and time again.

Because of couponing and being frugal I am happy to announce that I have been able to cut our food and grocery budget down to $50 per week. With that $50 I probably average buying at least $300 worth of food per week. We are able to have splurge items (with coupons of course) and have been able to build a nice stockpile of items. Let's just say I don't need to buy spaghetti sauce or cake mix for a long long while. Even cashiers at the store recognize me now and know I mean business when I come in with my big binder full of coupons neatly arranged in trading card sleeves.
I get so excited for my deals and so does Josh. When I go shopping I sometimes will take pictures of my great deals and send them to Josh at work. His coworkers are so amazed as well and are always saying that I need to teach their wives how to do this too!

Which, hopefully soon, I plan on teaching my friends and family how to coupon successfully through classes and such. So if you are interested or know anyone who is interested in learning how to coupon please let me know. All I ask in return is an optional small monetary donation (what you can afford) to my couponing cause of buying groceries for the families of a local low income daycare. My goal is to provide these families a great start to the holiday season with food and groceries to serve their families for meals. A lot of these families are going to the food bank and coming back empty handed. I want to help them out as best as I can. Times are tight for everyone, but with couponing and deal hunting we are able to help one another out.

In closing, couponing has taught me the value of Money. "A penny saved is a penny earned". Every time I save money I am able to apply it to other sales. Last year I would have thought nothing of dropping $4 on a latte or mocha, but now I think twice before doing that. $4 is a lot of money and can also buy me a lot of items. I can tell you right now that for $4.50 I can buy 8 jars of Ragu sauce and 4 Wishbone salad dressings at Fred Meyer with a promo they are putting on. Pair that promo with coupons and voila! you have some serious savings!

Here are some examples of my most recent shopping trips and prices.

$6.64
-The only thing I actually had to pay for here was part of the deodorants.

$13.98
-Plus I got a $10 coupon to use on my next purchase at Albertson's.
-Plus I get $10 back in Kellogg's rebate that I mailed in!

Puyallup Fair!

Yup, we did the Puyallup. My MIL, Joey and I were feeling very daring and braved the first day crowds at the fair. Admission was free between 10 and 12 so we waited in a traffic jam for an HOUR! But it was all good and almost humorous and Joey was so good.

We decided to take Joey's wagon b/c he has just about outgrown his stroller and I noticed previously that Wagons were everywhere at the fair. We walked with Joey for a little bit but the crowds were so big that it was almost too overwhelming for all of us. So I spent the best $2.25 cents of my life and bought Joey one of those cool swirly, multicolored suckers and plopped him in the wagon. It kept him busy for a good two hours!

Mom and I enjoyed Onion burgers, curly fries, and Funnel Cake. It was delicious! Grandma even bought Joey an ice cream cone that he absolutely loved.

We attempted to look around at the Hall exhibits but it was just too crowded to pull a wagon through all of the madness. So instead we made our way over to the barns and thoroughly enjoyed our viewings of Cows, horses, Chickens, and Goats.
Joey's face lit up everytime he saw another animal. We had so much fun and were so grateful that Grandma took us to the fair!

Meet Howie!

Hello Howie!

Howie is the latest addition to Joey's every growing stuffed animal family. He joins Georgie, Puppy, Yammy, and occasionally Mr. Elephant and Gibbs the dog.
Howie comes from a previous valentines day present given to my sister by her boyfriend. Seeing that he is life size and Holly is downsizing for her big move to Tennessee, she saw fit to give Joey something to remember her by. The first step was to remove the big plush heart pillow attachement that said "Happy Valentines Day" and the second was to give Howie some clothes. After an array of outfits were tried on Joey picked out a monkey shirt for him. Next up, naming the fella'. Seeing that Joey wouldn't respond to my repeatedly asked question, "what should we name him?" I found it compelling to name him as a replacement in Holly's absence. Therefore Howie seemed only appropriate. Since Joey has trouble pronouncing the l's in Holly he calls her Howie in a nasaly sort of way. So thats how we get Howie from Holly.

Seeing that he is ginormous Howie is not able to travel, but he does make for a great mommy alternative for when Joey needs extra cuddles at night. This also makes him the guard for Joey at night. Joey has been given the understanding that Howie watches over him at night while he sleeps, therefore he needs to be tucked in after Joey wakes up in order to catch up on sleep.

Welcome to Joey's bed Howie!

Sometimes hugs and kisses are in order

Jeff, Jen and Twin's Oh MY!

Last Sunday our family friends Jeff and Jen Gay came up to Josh's parent's house in Yelm to show off the newest additions to their family, Aubrey and Adison. Twin baby girls!

Josh's mom and I were all over those little babies. We both were itching for a little baby loving. Granted they slept a lot but we enjoyed rocking them to sleep and feeding them and all the gas power they were supplying. =)

Joey was so interested in them as well. In an effort to give one of them his cell phone he accidentally threw it at Aubrey, narrowly missing her head. But he was so very gently and was even giving them kisses!

Joey's new girlfriends!
