Driftwood Dash 5k

My best friend, Kara's sister threw a 5k run to raise money for the Nepal Orphan's Home. She went there in July of last year and it changed her life forever. Ever since, Laura has been finding new ways to raise money to help the Orphans in Nepal.

I have never ever done a 5k...ever. I don't really run and haven't for some time. So I borrowed a jogging stroller and went out with the stroller brigade. It was a lot of fun. My time was 46:55 and was the first stroller in....whoop whoop! That was mostly walking and a slight jog at the end because Joey was not having being in a stroller anymore.

Before the race started the kids did a little dash around the island. Joey brought in the rear. He cheated and cut through half the course and still came in last. Haha!

After the race there was a raffle and I made out like a bandit. Such luck! Or it could be the fact that I purchased 50 raffle tickets though. Joey won a new helmed, knee pads, and elbow pads and I won a free round of golf (which I am gifting to my dad for Father's Day...muhaha).

The Driftwood Dash was so much fun and I am glad to be able to have participated in the race and given back to the Nepal children.

The Quad Birthday Party

So it turns out, on the Callon side of the family there are 4 birthdays within 2 weeks of each other. That's a lot of birthdays, parties, presents, etc.... So this year we opted to throw Joey's, Andrea's, Katy's and my birthday party into one big celebration. We held it at the Grand Residence Center in our Apartments and themed it as a homage to the foods we like. I divided 4 tables and each theme was centered around things that the birthday person liked.

For Joey it was balloons, hot wheels and toys. For the food on his table, we went with Kool Aid and peanut butter and jelly.

For Katy, her table was the appetizer table. She loves chips and dips and Diet Pepsi.

For Andrea, her table was the drink table. Since she loves Crystal Light and Water we did that. Of course I had to throw in her birthday present on the table as well....A bottle of Stoli Blueberry Vodka. She also has a major sweet tooth, so lots of candy was necessary as well!

For my table I decorated it with an appetizer feel as well. I love fruits and veggies, so I put on strawberries and dipping vegetables. I also like wine...so of course it was featured as well!

All in all, we had a lot of fun. For Joey's 1st and 2nd birthday we went all out and had lots of people. But this year we decided to be low key. There are so many birthdays ahead of him full of children and games, so a quiet year worked out well this time.

So Happy Birthday to us all!!!!

Joey's Birthday

For Joey's Birthday my Mom, Holly, Joey and I went to Spaghetti Factory for lunch. Lucky for Joey, we got to sit in the trolley. He was so excited and couldn't stop looking around and exploring. After lunch, we went over to Toys-R-US for Joey's annual birthday club gifts. He picked out some hot wheels cars (his new love)and was ever so excited.
A few days prior, my Uncle Paul was in town so we did a little birthday dinner for Joey with him as well. Guess what he got him??? More Hot Wheels Cars....guess what I got him for his birthday party? Hot Wheels Cars. I may be in trouble! Before dinner, Joey helped Cody and Uncle Paul work in the garden. Joey is such a helper and was so excited to help out Uncle Cody and "Alca Hall" (Uncle Paul). After my Uncle left to go back home all Joey could talk about was him. Someone has a new best buddy!

Forks, Washington

So I will so admit that I am a huge Twilight Fan. Well, not obsessive, but I really enjoy the books and the movies. Jpsj teases me b/c he says I have a crush on the actor that plays Edward, Robert Pattinson; but really I just find Edward's character so romantic and a tad dreamy. Huge difference Josh!
Anyways, my Mom thought it would be fun to go up to Forks (where Twilight takes place) while my Uncle was here visiting. I thought we were just going b/c my Uncle Paul had been up there before, but low and behold I find out my Mom's true intentions on the drive up. She wanted to go so I could tour Forks. We've been there before, but that was years ago before Twilight was even a thought in Stephanie Meyer's mind.
I was kind of embarrassed to admit that we were going...especially when she told the waitress at the restaurant in Port Angeles that that was why we were going. Thanks Mom!

We did have a good time though. The town of Forks is really into the whole Twilight craze and definitely caters to the hype. They landmark certain places in town that correlate to the book, even going as far as labeling Bella's house and the Cullen's house. We also got to go down to La Push Beach on the reservation. It was neat and I actually thought the description of the beach was what I imagined it to be in the books.
