Roadtrip 2009

So Mom became daring this year and decided to drive to California with Joey and Grandma. =)

I didn't think much of it at first, but so many people were surprised that I would drive for so long with a fussy two year old? Whoops, what was I thinking???

But actually it all turned out great.

My mom and Joey and I left after packing and repacking the car three times (I don't know how to pack light) on July 28, around 7:30 in the morning. We made it about 2 hours before our first break at a rest stop right outside of Portland. Joey needed to stretch his legs and run around for a bit. We drove a little bit farther and hung out at Auntie Kara's house for an hour or so in Albany, Oregon. After lunch, we set out on the road again and made a couple of more stops for gas, breaks, a McDonalds playland adventure and a couple of restroom breaks. We pulled into Redding, CA around 7:30 pm and stayed at a hotel.

We got up early the next morning and headed West where we drove to the Sierra Foothill's Wine Country. After an hour or so there we made it up to Placerville, CA and of course ate at In & Out Burger. YUM! We set out on the road again to meet our destination of Lake Tahoe, Nevada. After a freak rainstorm, we arrived safely and securely. My mom's best friend from highschool, Pam and her husband Ron greeted us at the Royal Aloha Vacation Club. Ron was able to hook us up with a great unit, complete with a kitchen, family room and all the ammenities.

Even though it took two days to get to Tahoe, we had a fun little road trip. Surprisingly, Joey was very well behaved in the car. It was a good thing we had the laptop to watch DVD's and coloring books.

More Blogs to come on our fun Vacation (or as Joey would say it..."our cation."
