Come on Now!!!

On Wednesday the 30th Josh woke up feeling very odd again. His heart was pounding and flubbing weirdly like last time. To be on the safe side we went to the ER where it was confirmed he was in AFib again.
While AFib is not generally considered a serious condition at first, it can lead to cardiac arrest or stroke if not treated. Because Josh had been shocked not less then two weeks prior, the doctors did not feel that cardioverting him again would be of any help, especially if he would probably go right back into it.
After several hours of waiting to hear from Josh's cardiologist it was decided to put him on meds to slow down the heartbeat and to meet with the cardiologist next week.
Understandably so Josh is very frustrated as am I! He says being in AFib is a constant unpleasant feeling of a fish flopping in your chest and it leaves you short of breath and constantly tired. We really want to be able to figure out why this is happening to Josh. It seems that because he has no signs of heart damage the cardiologist will meet with him next Thursday.

In doing some research of my own I have found that AFib can be caused by stress, caffeine, sleep apnea, etc. Depending on what the doctor says next week my guess is that they will want Josh to go in for a sleep study since he does have sleep apnea. As of today, Josh is mostly out of AFib (it can go away on its own), but it can also come back just like that. With AFib, it happening once is not a bad thing, but going in and out of Afib can shorten life expectancy and can cause stroke or heart attack.

Please pray for us that Josh going into AFib is treatable and curable.
